Ian Fraser noted Councillor Gural's past statement about the speed study recommendations that this is a good start, but that there should be consideration to add traffic calming measures as well. He noted that he is hoping that Council will think of these options in the future. He addressed the speeding concerns on Kilmarnock Road and the recommendation to have speed signs to indicate that it is a busy road. He suggested that Council could consider traffic calming measures on this road as well to address how busy it is.

    THAT the Council of the Corporation of Merrickville-Wolford allocate funds in the amount of $12,000 funds and In-Kind requests in an estimated amount of $8,075 for the Community Grant Program;

    AND FURTHER THAT the Public Works Department and Emergency Services Department provide an accounting of the approximate staff time allocated to the functions supported by the grant to determine the true cost of the support provided by the Municipality;

    AND FURTHER THAT Staff provide a revised structure and allocations policy prior to undertaking the 2026 budget.

Councillor Gural provided a reminder that the provincial election was upcoming on February 27th. She noted that if you are not able to vote on the 27th, that you can still vote at the election office in Brockville this week before election day.

    THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Village of Merrickville-Wolford give First, Second, Third and Final Reading to By-law 16-2025 Being a By-law to Confirm the Proceedings of Council for the Regular Meeting of February 24, 2025;

    AND FURTHER THAT authorization be given to the Mayor and Clerk to sign, seal and place in the By-law Book for the Municipality By-law Number 16-2025.
